I’ve been writing…

Hi, everyone. I’ve been writing all sorts of places; unfortunately, they haven’t been here. And I am truly sorry for that. This place is my place; but I keep wanting to take my muddy boots and run all up on other people’s carpets.

Here are a few places where you’ll find some of my recent writings:

Fear, Hope & Justice Zine, published by thaura zine distro. Look for my poem “black widows.” The zine was created in response to the Mehserle verdict on the murder of Oscar Grant and police violence against men of color.

My first week of guest blogging at Feministe (second week starts August 16th). Check my intro, a poem (trigger warning for blood imagery), and a post on storytelling.

My latest on Global Comment: Mad Men: Illusions of manhood (a review of the Season 4 premiere); The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’s imperfect young love (yes, I read the books and watched the movies); Oil in the Gulf: Beyond politics, bigger problems (the title’s self-explanatory)

An early response to the Shirley Sherrod debacle on Tumblr. Let it be known I am elated she’s suing Breitbart’s ass.

A decent amount of my poetry is always here.

And I love and miss everyone who reads here. I will start putting my work on my own blog; promise!

I’m glad you’ve been writing, and I’m glad to hear your actual second week at Feministe hasn’t come around yet. Honestly I was worried for a minute that you just were like “fuck it” when I didn’t find posts from you after the trigger-warning poem thing. Which I know I’m an asshole, but that irritated me that some people had *only* that to say, in response to such a powerful piece.

  5. I was happy to see comments that actually took the poem in and to see some poetry in response. :) Feministe typically doesn’t open itself up to creative works; so I feel good I wasn’t run out entirely.
